The Master’s programme in Data Analytics for Politics and Society prepares a new generation of analysts and scientists in data analysis, political science, sociology, urban studies, and public administration.

The programme is designed under the collaboration with the similar programs in Europe, which have been opened in Sweden, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the UK and Switzerland for the past few years. The program curriculum is elaborated with the curriculum of the University of Milan, and our universities’ collaboration will include students’ exchanges and, in the long term, a double degree diploma.

The Program is open for technical university graduates, who would like to study social and political issues, and also for social and humanitarian graduates, who would like to go deep into programing and data analysis.

Curriculum flexibly is directed to mastering the skills, which applicants have not obtained with their previous education.

The program is a research master’s program with a strong project and analytical work and publications preparation.

In particular, students will be required to complete term papers and theses (dissertations) according to international journals and conferences standards in computer sciences. It will be a valuable element of your portfolio when applying for a job or postgraduate schools.

The courses and projects will allow the students to specialize in different aspects of data analysis and digital social research – from open government data analysis to agent-based modeling of political and social processes. Our student will be able to do their internships in scientific laboratories of HSE in Saint Petersburg and partner organizations of digital sphere.

The successful cooperation of the campus with JetBrains, Yandex, Rostelecom, Tele2 and other digital economy companies, and the students ‘ internships in these companies will prepare the graduates of the program to work in a wide range of IT-based companies. The cooperation of the campus with the regional government authorities will allow internships in the relevant committees and think tanks, and prepare graduates for work in the public sector.
